SOMERSET NEWS: Deadline looms for Taunton Deane grant applications

VOLUNTARY and community sector groups hoping to benefit from Taunton Deane Borough Council grants are being reminded of the deadline.

Applications received before 12noon on Monday (February 2, 2015) will be considered for funding from three grant pots.

The funding is available for any not-for-profit organisations seeking to improve the lives, health and wellbeing of people in Taunton Deane.

The council will consider all eligible projects but it is particularly keen to support those that help vulnerable people or those living in specific priority areas; North Taunton, Taunton East, Wellington North, Wellington East, and the rural areas of Taunton Deane.SOMERSET NEWS: Deadline looms for Taunton Deane grant applications

Funding is also available for projects that benefit residents in the un-parished areas of Taunton as well as council tenants across Taunton Deane.

Organisations that benefited from a grant last year included In The Mix Youth Project, Taunton Food Bank, Conquest Riding Cnetre, Blackdown Support Group and Cruse Bereavement Care.

Projects or services must start or run between April 1, 2015, and March 31, 2016, and further details are available on the Taunton Deane Borough Council website. Please search for Voluntary and Community Organisation Grants.

The council’s executive councillor for community leadership, Cllr Jane Warmington, said: “I know how even relatively small amounts can make a real difference to community groups so I am pleased we are making this money available.

“I encourage both existing and new groups to apply and we are happy to help if there are any last minute queries.”

Cllr Warmington added: “Last year we supported a wide variety of projects and we are sure the benefits are being felt across the Deane.”
