SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Mean burglars strike on Christmas Day

POLICE are appealing for information after a family had their Christmas was ruined when burglars broke into a home on the outskirts of Yeovil and ransacked the property.

The homeowner, a grandfather from Montacute, had gone to enjoy Christmas Day dinner with family members when intruders struck between 12noon and 4pm.

A family spokesman said: “He returned home to find the total devastation.”

The spokesman told the Yeovil Press that the victim did not want to be named or have his address identified.

But anyone who knows any information about the incident is urged to contact police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800-555111.

Photos of the scene which greeted the victim on return to his home have been posted on Facebook by family members and they have gained unanimous outrage from social media viewers.

One said: “F****** disgusting – chop off their hands and legs.”

Another wrote: “Pure scum.”
