SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Chimney fires keep officers busy

FIREFIGHTERS have been busy this evening (Friday, December 12, 2014) dealing with a chimney fire at a home in Bruton.

The alarm was raised at just after 7.15pm to the problem at a property in Godminster Lane and one fire engine from Castle Cary was mobilised.

Extra fire personnel were called in to support the operation and they gained access to the roof top to extinguish the fire.

Earlier this afternoon firefighters from Castle Cary were called to deal with a  chimney fire at Shepton Montague, near Wincanton.

On arrival at the scene at around 5pm the officers discovered a small fire involving a rayburn.
