YEOVIL NEWS: Round Table is on the ball with Le Tiss and charity!

FORMER Southampton and England footballer Matt Le Tissier was the guest speaker at yesterday’s (Friday, November 21, 2014) charity luncheon organised by the Yeovil Round Table.

The 13th annual luncheon, held at the Manor Hotel in Yeovil, saw Round Table members joined by guests from the local business community.

Chairman Steve Farnham welcomed everyone to the event and said that it had – in the previous 12 years – helped to raise well over £200,000 for charitable organisations supported by the group.

Guests were able to enjoy a four-course lunch before listening to humorous anecdotes from former footballer Le Tissier who is now a regular panellist on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday show.

Once again there was a champagne raffle and then a money-spinning auction where the Round Table had assembled a fabulous assortment of goodies which were expertly auctioned off by Simon Murray.

Round Table vice-chairman Ashley Helyar, of Simply Bathrooms and Bedrooms of Sherborne, told the Yeovil Press today (Saturday, November 22, 2014) that yesterday’s luncheon had raised more than £20,000 for charity.

Earlier in the day the Round Table members had presented cheques totalling £18,500 to five different organisations - £10,000 to Cash for the Community; £3,500 to the Apollo Swimming Club; £1,000 to Julia’s House; £3,500 to the Round Table’s Children’s Wish initiative; and £500 to the Lord’s Larder.
