YEOVIL NEWS: Climbing new heights for youth group open day

A YOUNG people’s drop-in group on the Westfield estate in Yeovil is holding an open day on Saturday (November 15, 2014) to show what it has to offer.

The open day is being held from 1pm to 4pm on Saturday at St Peter’s Church Hall in Coronation Avenue, Yeovil.

Chris Adcock, chairman of the Westfield Community Association, said: “This event is being held to showcase Westyouth in the local community and promote it to young people.

“Visitors of all ages will be able to meet the youth workers, young people and members of the Westfield Community Association and take part in the activities on the day.”YEOVIL NEWS: Climbing new heights for youth group open day

There will be plenty of activities going on including a free climbing wall – loaned by the 1610 leisure operator – which will be based at the nearby Co-op store.

There will also be face painting, badge making, refreshments, snacks, music, pool, cakes, table football, circus skills, film, arts, table tennis.

Chris added: “We hope that more people will be encouraged to join Westyouth as young people, volunteer helpers in the club and to get involved in supporting the governance and long-term sustainability of the club.”

The Westyouth drop-in – which is suitable for young people aged from 12 to 17 - is held every Monday evening at St Peter’s Church Hall in Coronation Avenue, Yeovil, from 6pm to 8pm.
