SOMERSET NEWS: Open a book for the Big Read!
BOOK lovers across the county are being invited to share their love of reading by taking part in the Somerset Big Read.
Somerset County Council’s Library Services are running the county-wide initiative from November 10, 2014, to encourage adults to read, review and discuss books.
The first Somerset Big Read will be The Gallery Of Vanished Husbands, the latest novel by author Natasha Solomons.
Copies of the book have been donated by Hodder and Stoughton and will be available to borrow from Somerset libraries. Readers will be encouraged to share their thoughts by writing a review, either using forms available in libraries or by tweeting their reviews on Twitter using the hashtag #SomBigRead.
Look out for events across the county as the author of this captivating book, Natasha Solomons, will also be visiting some libraries.
The council’s libraries spokesman, Cllr David Hall, said: “The Somerset Big Read really encourages people to share their love of reading.
“You can tell others exactly what you liked and didn’t like, find out what other readers are saying, discuss the impressions the book made on you and make reading a truly shared experience.
“Taking part couldn’t be simpler – just head down to your local library, borrow the book and get reading.”
The Somerset Big Read starts off in Frome, Taunton and Yeovil libraries, before travelling to other libraries around the county.
