YEOVIL NEWS: Criminal sent to prison for catalogue of crime

A MAN who admitted a string of offences in the Yeovil area has been given a prison sentence.

Dale Ashford, 30, who is currently serving a prison sentence for previous offences, was jailed for three years and six months yesterday (Monday, October 21, 2014) after pleading guilty to a dwelling burglary, taking a vehicle without consent, driving whilst disqualified and perverting the course of justice.

Ashford burgled a property in Sherborne on Boxing Day last year. He also  took a vehicle without the owner’s consent on Christmas Day last year and whilst he was disqualified from driving from a driveway of a house in Martock. YEOVIL NEWS: Criminal sent to prison for catalogue of crime

He was later charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to the latter offence when he attempted to speak to other people involved in the case.

PC Jim Card, of Yeovil Police, said: "This sentence reflects the number and serious nature of the crimes Ashford committed.

"I hope this sends a strong message that Avon and Somerset Police will robustly investigate any incident reported to us and bring those responsible for committing crimes in our neighbourhood to justice.

"Tackling burglary and anti-social behaviour is one of our priorities and we rely on community intelligence to help us combat these crimes.”
