YEOVIL NEWS: Colon Aid group coins in cash for CT Scanner Appeal

A SUPPORT group who have been treated for cancer at Yeovil District Hospital have donated £450 towards the hospital’s CT Scanner Appeal.

Colon Aid, a support group for people who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer, raised the money through a range of fundraising activities.

Cancer patients will benefit hugely from a second CT scanner, as will stroke and other emergency patients.

Chairman of Colon Aid, Rowland Hackett, said: “We are aware how useful a second CT Scanner would be for YeovilHospital which is why we have decided to support them with this donation.”YEOVIL NEWS: Colon Aid group coins in cash for CT Scanner Appeal

Sarah Cherry, the hospital’s community fundraiser, said: “When I joined the Colon Aid group for their recent meeting, it was clear to see how well supported this fantastic support group was.

“To receive £450 for our CT Scanner Appeal was brilliant, and a real boost for the appeal.

“Without the support of various Community Groups, we would not be able to raise the £100,000 needed. We are very grateful to everyone who has so far supported the appeal.”

A second scanner would allow the hospital to improve its service and shorten waiting times. A CT scanner is a critical piece of equipment in a whole range of situations. They are used for patients of all ages and are particularly critical for stroke patients, cancer patients and patients who have suffered a major trauma.
