SOMERSET NEWS: Giving a dog a home from home

THE co-ordinator of the home board PetStay Somerset group is looking to give dogs a good place to stay while their owners go away on holiday.

Elaine Simpson’s PetStay Somerset covers the whole of the county including Yeovil, Langport, Somerton, Martock, Chard, Montacute, Merriott, Wincanton, Taunton, Bridgwater, Burnham-on-Sea, Highbridge, Wellington, Minehead, Wells, Shepton Mallet, Glastonbury, Frome, Street, Axbridge, Cheddar and Wedmore.

Home boarding is about giving dogs a comfortable, happy and safe “home from home” environment while the owner is away on holiday, work or for other reasons.SOMERSET NEWS: Giving a dog a home from home

Elaine has her own dog Barney and has been able to leave him with one of the PetStay carers when she has had to go away.

“Barney came into my life in 2010 when he was a six-month-old rescue dog,” she said. “Having experienced a terrible ordeal at the hands of an unkind human he was frightened of almost everything.

“It took time, patience and a whole lot of love to help Barney develop into the happy, healthy and sweet natured dog he is today.

“Needless to say, the bond between us is very special, but he is still timid with strangers so I would not put him in kennels. I have been lucky enough to have a friend who has cared for my beloved boy in her own home and I’ve benefited from the peace of mind it gives me.”

Elaine continued: “It is for this reason that I know just how important it is for owners to have the reassurance that their much loved pet is in safe hands when they are away.SOMERSET NEWS: Giving a dog a home from home

“I therefore make a promise to my customers to provide you with the level of service that both you and your dog deserve.

“I will ensure that your best friend experiences a loving ‘home for home’ environment whilst you are away, so that you can enjoy both your holiday and the peace of mind that comes with choosing PetStay.”

“All PetStay carers are experienced dog owners. They are fully insured, licensed by the local authority and you get to meet them in their own homes before you book.”
