YEOVIL Town dropped two more points at home tonight (Tuesday, September 16, 2014) when they could only draw 1-1 with visiting Crewe Alexandra.

The Glovers are still looking for their first home win of the 2014-15 campaign although they came very close to grabbing a stoppage-time winner against the Sky Bet League One basement side.RESULT: Yeovil Town 1, Crewe Alexandra 1

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson made two changes to the team which had started the previous game at Coventry City with new loan keeper Jake Kean coming in and Chris Weale dropping to the bench, while Joel Grant got his first start of the season to replace James Hayter who was ruled out by injury.

The first-half finished 0-0 with neither side really stamping their authority on proceedings although Yeovil came close to breaking the deadlock when skipper Joe Edwards saw a shot tipped over the bar by visiting keeper Ben Garratt.

But it was Crewe who got the breakthrough just after the hour mark when Billy Waters scored.

Yeovil defender Jakub Sokolik was bundled off the ball out on the right flank and then Vadaine Oliver put in a stinging shot which Kean could only palm into the path of Waters who confidently netted.

Johnson responded on the touchline by taking the potentially dangerous decision of making a triple substitution with Kieffer Moore, Seth Nana Twumasi and Nathan Ralph all coming on to replace Sam Foley, Jakub Sokolik and Kevin Dawson respectively.

The move worked – to a degree.

Yeovil were soon back on level terms when Moore headed home a Nathan Smith cross from close range.

That signalled Crewe to look to play out time – although they had been looking to do that right from the word go, clearly happy to head back home with a point.

But Yeovil nearly snatched a winner right at the death when Joel Grant went close with an effort and then Nathan Ralph shot wide.

A crowd of 3,509 was at Huish Park for the match.
