YEOVIL NEWS: Ten year anniversary show for Castaway Theatre Group

THE ever-popular Yeovil-based Castaway Theatre Group will be putting on the show of its life later this month to celebrate its tenth anniversary.

It does not seem possible that ten years have passed since the group was first formed in 2005 by Lyn Lee Brown – initially as a way to raise funds for St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice.

Castaways’ first show was called Summer Follies and was performed at Barwick and raised £1,000 with a cast of just 15 adults and seven children.

Over the past decade the group has grown and now has over 80 members with lots of talented children in its ranks.

Lyn is still very much the inspiration behind the group and is now working tirelessly, along with her loyal group of assistants, to ensure that the Castaways put on a show to remember at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil on September 19-20, 2014.

“It’s going to be a fantastic show,” she told the Yeovil Press. “Please tell everyone about it and come along and enjoy a night of song and dance.

“There will be lots of memorable moments with this musical spectacular. Everyone has worked so hard in rehearsals and we’d love to see as many people as possible at the Octagon to join with us in this celebration of ten years of Castaways.”

Tickets cost £10 each and are available from the Octagon box office on 01935-422884.

The show starts at 7.30pm on both nights.

The tenth anniversary production will cap a fine year for Castaways which has seen them perform the popular pantomime Sleeping Beauty, the amazing musial Oliver! and take to the stage at the O2 in London.
