Proposals include replacing an existing timber fence with a galvanised steel fence; replace and relocate entrance gate; construct a new retaining wall to replace an existing log wall which is becoming rotten; add new steps and ramp access from top of play area to lower grass space, improving play and accessibility; and refurbish existing equipment and surfaces.

A consultation is now taking place with the local community and people need to send their comments and ideas to Robert Parr at South Somerset District Council by September 15, 2014.

Members of Yeovil Town Council’s grounds and general maintenance committee meet tonight (Monday, September 1, 2014) to discuss the latest situation.YEOVIL NEWS: Views wanted on play area improvement project

Mr Parr, the district’s senior play and youth facilities officer, said: “Improvements to the park were given a boost with the aid of the Yeovil Youth Council earlier this summer when a group of youth councillors helped to paint the existing play equipment.

“This has brightened up the play area for visitors and will hopefully extend the life of the equipment for many more years.”
