Samuel said: “My EPQ was on capital punishment.  It interested me and I wanted to learn more about it.

“Doing the EPQ helped me gain better independent research skills, which will be useful at university.  I made some really good friends at Yeovil College and the lecturers are really supportive.”EXAM RESULTS 2014: Yeovil College students are over the moon!

Will Joynes, 18, of Yeovil, received an A* grade in Biology plus three A grades, in Maths, Chemistry and for his Extended Project Qualification.

Will said: “I’m absolutely over the moon.  I don’t think it’s sunk in yet, I’m ecstatic!  The teachers at Yeovil College have been absolutely brilliant all the way through both years.

“I’ve also made great friends through the course and playing football and tennis as enrichment.  The enrichment at YeovilCollege is one of the best things about it.

“Doing A-Levels can be quite full on academically, so sport was something to look forward to and it’s a great stress release.”

Will is going to the University of Bath to study Pharmacy.

Will’s mum, Liz Joynes, was there to support her son as he collected his results.

She said: “I’m extremely proud of him.  The work he put in has really paid off.  Yeovil College is amazing.  The support for the tutors and lecturers is second to none.  If only more people realised what they have on their doorstep.”

Former Stanchester Academy student Lucy Braithwaite (19) of Yeovil achieved A grade A Levels in Psychology, and Biology plus an A for AS Level Chemistry.

Lucy said: “I’m relieved and shocked really!  My teachers were so supportive throughout the course.  Wendy Craddock was my rock and helped me work extra hard to improve my AS grade so I could get an A for A Level.  Wendy Jones was amazing too!”
