YEOVIL NEWS: Repeated anti-social behaviour will NOT be tolerated, say police

POLICE are hoping that getting two people evicted from their Yeovil home because of repeated anti-social behaviour will get the message across to others that making their neighbours’ lives hell will not be tolerated.

Officers were granted a closure order for a property in Turnpike Orchard after an investigation into anti-social behaviour at the address.

Beat manager PC Simon Reeves said: “This is a very positive outcome for our local community, who have been greatly affected by the anti-social behaviour that has been linked to this address.”

The police’s anti-social behaviour co-ordinator added: “We hope that our actions send out a clear message that we will not tolerate any sort of behaviour that has such a negative impact on the quality of people's lives and that we will not hesitate to use the various powers available to us to tackle ASB.YEOVIL NEWS: Repeated anti-social behaviour will NOT be tolerated, say police

“Police will take positive action against those who engage in ASB and this should serve as a warning that if you commit these types of offences, you could lose your home.”

Magistrates approved the closure order application during a hearing at South Somerset Magistrates' Court in Yeovil last week.

Police made the application following numerous complaints about anti-social behaviour incidents linked to the property including reports of drug use, drug supply, violent altercations and noise.

With the aim of preventing further problems at the address and the related nuisance to the community, the order was made under Section 2 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Act 2003, which allows for the closure of premises associated with persistent disorder or nuisance.

The two tenants, a 32-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, must leave the rented property which will be boarded up for a period of three months.

Anyone who enters the property during this period is committing an offence and can be arrested.
