SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: House fire in Chard

FIREFIGHTERS were mobilised this evening (Wednesday, July 30, 2014) following reports of a house fire in Chard.

The alarm was raised at just before 7pm to an address in the town and fire engines from Chard, Ilminster and Axminster were called out.

Crews discovered there had been a fire in an oven, but was out by the time they had got there.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told the Yeovil Press: “There was slight smoke damage to the kitchen and the fire is believed to be accidental.”
