SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Kitchen fire breaks out at pub

A WELL-KNOWN pub and restaurant in South Somerset suffered a fire during the early hours of this morning (Thursday, July 24, 2014).

The alarm was raised at just after 2.30am to the incident at the Windwhistle pub at Cricket St Thomas on the main road between Crewkerne and Chard.

Two fire engines from Chard and one from Crewkerne were mobilised and firefighters discovered the incident involved tea towels in a tumble dryer.

A spokesman for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service told the Yeovil Press: “The cause of the fire was accidental and there was fire and water damage to the kitchen area and moderate smoke damage to the remainder of the property.”
