SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Armed robbery at Sparkford Inn

POLICE have begun an investigation following a robbery the Sparkford Inn in Sparkford in which two armed men demanded cash from the till.

The robbery occurred at the pub, which is on the High Street, at around 11.10pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014.

A police spokesman said: “Two men entered the pub, one armed with a hammer, and demanded money from a member of staff. Cash was taken from the till before the two men left in a dark-coloured vehicle.”SOUTH SOMERSET NEWS: Armed robbery at Sparkford Inn

The offenders are described as: A - a white man, around 6’3-6’4” tall with a broad, muscular build and with an eastern European accent. He was wearing a dark-coloured baseball cap, a face covering obscuring the lower half of his face and dark clothing. He was also wearing black gloves and was carrying a hammer.

B - The second man had a similar height and build and was wearing a black hooded top with a pouch on the front.

The police spokesman added: “We’d like to speak to anyone who recognises the description of these men or knows who they are as well as anyone who saw them leaving the area.”
