It raises money for the Piers Simon Appeal and its School in a Bag initiative which was first formed following the death of former YeovilCollege student Piers Simon in the 2004 Asian Tsunami at the age of 33.

Mandy Lilley, from the Military Wives Choir, said: “We are delighted to be appearing at Home Farm Fest 9. We will be performing songs from the Military Wives Choir albums, featuring songs by Coldplay, U2, Gary Barlow and the Number 1 from The Military Wives Choir, ‘Wherever You Are’.

“We are hoping to provide a classical, choral feel to the Posh Frocks & Wellies night at Home Farm Fest. We will also be wearing our Posh Frocks & Wellies!”

The Yeovilton Military Wives Choir was established a year and a half ago following the success of Gareth Malone’s original Military Wives Choirs, made famous through the popular BBC series The Choir.YEOVIL NEWS: Yeovilton Military Wives Choir to perform at Home Farm Fest

Home Farm Fest takes place in the fields and orchards around the Piers Simon Appeal’s base in Chilthorne Domer where more than 50 bands and artists are expected to perform over the three day event.

It is the largest fundraising event of the year for the charity, which runs the School in a Bag initiative delivering rucksacks full of stationery, learning resources and eating utensils to poor, orphan and disaster-affected children.

So far it has helped almost 45,000 vulnerable children and the money raised over the Home Farm Fest weekend will help the charity continue its life-changing work around the world.
