Wet wet wet in Yeovil!

YEOVIL may have been bathed in sunshine today (Saturday, March 15, 2014) and escaped the terrible flooding which caused mayhem and misery to large parts of the county earlier this year – but it has still been wet, wet, wet for the area.

Members of South Somerset District Council’s Area South committee were told this month that Yeovil had seen nearly 70 per cent of its average annual rainfall for a year in just three months.

Council engineer Roger Meecham said that Yeovil had seen 490mm of rain fall between December 2013 and February this year.

Yeovil normally has an average rainfall over a year of 709mm.
