Lynx crew return home safe and sound

HELICOPTER aircrew returned home yesterday (Tuesday, March 11, 2014) at RNAS Yeovilton where they were met by delighted family and friends.

The Lynx Flight embarked with HMS Montrose for a seven-month operational deployment which saw her travel over 32,000 miles and visit 12 different ports in ten different countries.

Part of the deployment saw them support a Danish-led mission to remove chemical weapons from Syria.

AET Carwyn Jones said: “It’s been a challenging seven months and when we left Plymouth I definitely didn’t expect to end up patrolling the coastline of Syria.

“It’s been a great experience for my first tour and I’m extremely proud of what we’ve achieved.”
