Housing group looks to the future

YEOVIL-BASED Yarlington Housing Group is looking to the future by bringing together up to 100 of its key partners and organisations.

Yarlington chairman Roger Powell had asked, during its annual stakeholder event, for input to set in place the organisation's 2020 Vision and the way ahead.

During the event he spoke of the challenges ahead and the need to work in partnership to deliver the needs of residents in increasingly difficult times.Housing group looks to the future

“We were delighted at the response and commitment we got from our stakeholders” he said. “Together we can achieve great results for our residents and build communities where people choose to live, learn and work.

“Organisations have pledged to work with us in many areas, including what is the major concern of supporting people into work, education and training.”

Guests on the day were asked to give their view on Yarlington’s future priorities, including expanding the building programme, delivering homes that are cheaper to run, providing support services enabling the elderly to remain independent and providing additional services such as a handyman.

When asked what was the biggest social factor that would have an effect on the business, the increasing and ageing population was by far the most popular response given.

“This input is invaluable to us, to gather first-hand feedback and opinion. We look forward to greater collaborative working in the future” added Chief Executive Gary Orr.
