Parents and their children spent an hour looking at what was needed to get A and A* grades in art and design and photography.

The aims of the evening were to help the students and parents understand what these subjects entail and help identify what it takes to achieve the highest levels of success.

The evening started with a talk from Stanchester art teacher and head of culture and creativity, Liz Leach, and then parents and students had a go at marking and moderating some student work.

Mrs Leach said: "Art and Photography are about visual communication and we have a record of very high achievement – over 90% of our students gain 'C' grades or above on a regular basis each year.

"The emphasis is very much on team work and tailoring the course to suit individual requirements."
