Trees for St Michael's Academy in Yeovil
ST MICHAEL’S Academy in Yeovil has been presented with 80 young trees thanks to a Somerset garden centre.
The school received the saplings from Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre in Monkton Heathfield near Taunton for its Forest School pupils to plant.
Caroline Lancey, deputy headteacher at St Michael’s Academy at Grass Royal, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre for its kindness and generosity.
“A group of students from the Academy are part of a Forest School group, which links with children that have learning disabilities at Fiveways School, also in Yeovil.
‘’The group will be planting the saplings on a recently acquired plot of land, in order to enhance the area. The young trees will be lovely to look at and enjoy for many years to come.”
Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre runs the sapling giveaway scheme annually. Schools, charities and not-for-profit organisations were invited to receive groups of between 50 and 100 small indigenous British varieties, known as whips.
