Two arrested over cannabis factory finds

POLICE in Yeovil last week arrested two men in connection with the discovery of two cannabis factories.

Officers and the fire service were called to Sherborne Road in Yeovil where a property containing more than 100 cannabis plants had caught fire. Further plants were discovered in Lyde Road and a warrant was also executed at a property in Haselbury Plucknett in connection with this investigation.   Two arrested over cannabis factory finds

It was necessary for specialist officers to maintain a scene guard at the property to ensure the electricity supply in the surrounding area was made safe. Forensic analysis of the properties was also carried out.

The men arrested have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Constable Andy Tearle said: "We have launched an investigation and are carrying out various lines of enquiry at this time. This incident also demonstrates the potential dangers of abstracting electricity.

“The combination of water, humidity and electricity is potentially lethal and it is fortunate the property was unoccupied at the time.

"Operation Viscount is continuing across Avon and Somerset and we will continue to be relentless in our efforts to disrupt, dismantle and destroy cannabis production and associated crime in our area."
