Two men arrested for lead thefts from bar roof

TWO men, aged 27 and 29, have been arrested following the theft of lead from the roof of a bar in Yeovil.

During the evening of September 26, police received a call from a member of the public reporting a blue van whose occupants were behaving suspiciously and appeared to be stealing lead from the roof of Bar 45 in the town.

CCTV operatives watched the crime as police made there way there but the suspects left the scene prior to the arrival of the officers. But Sgt Jamie Rees, from the Yeovil Neighbourhood Team, soon spotted the van and followed it.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of theft and taken to Yeovil Police Station while police searches took place and officers recovered the lead.

The men have been bailed pending further investigations.
