Football: Yeovil Town 3, Colchester United 1

NEW signing Paddy Madden was the hero at Huish Park yesterday (Saturday, October 6) when he scored a brace to send Yeovil Town on the way to a much-needed 3-1 success over Colchester United in the npower League One.

Madden, who signed for the Glovers on a one-month loan spell from Carlisle United, struck in the 20th minute to give Yeovil a great start as they looked to end a dismal run of six successive matches.

Yeovil's lead lasted just five minutes, however, when Jabo Ibehre equalised for the visiting Colchester.

But Yeovil were able to go into the half-time interval 2-1 up when Madden netted his second of the afternoon.

Yeovil looked in control of proceedings and they completed the victory in the 78th minute when James Hayter scored the Glovers' third of the afternoon to kill off any lingering threat Colchester might have presented.

It was the perfect end to a fantastic few days for Hayter with him becoming a proud father to a baby daughter earlier in the week.

The victory pushed Yeovil back up the table to 13th, but the crowd at Huish Park yesterday was hugely disappointing with just 3,002 coming through the turnstiles.
